What type of disclosures can a plan administrator send electronically? On April 9, 2002, the Department of Labor (DOL) finalized interim regulations which had established, on a temporary basis, a safe harbor for electronic distribution of summary plan descriptions (SPDs), summaries of material modifications (SMMs), and summary annual reports (SARs).
